Jesus and the Lamb

I love this picture. It warms my heart every time I look at it. I first saw this picture in January of 2007 when my sister Katie was fighting for her young life. She had been life-flighted to Salt Lake City with a rare case of Pulmonary Hypertension and was not expected to live through the delivery of her un-born daughter. Some friends of friends kindly let my family stay with them while we were in Salt Lake with Katie. They had this picture on a shelf in their hallway and each night, after a long, grueling day at the hospital I'd see this picture. I can't even explain the comfort it brought to me. The day I arrived in SLC, the doctor told me that my sister, one of my closest friends would most likely not survive this condition. The chance of her heart being able to go through the stresses of delivering a baby were slim to none. I have never been so devistated in my life. But my heart held onto the hope of Jesus holding this baby lamb, protecting it's innocence and it's life. I knew my sister was in the arms of Jesus.

It was a dark, rainy gloomy day about 13 days into the ordeal. Phil and I had walked down the street to a churh to pray. There were tall, very tall stained glass windows that went high up the sides of the building. We were holding each other, praying for the Lord to spare us Katies life. In the midst of my despair, the bright sun came shining down on us through the stained glass. It was a huge church, but the sun chose to land directly on us. At that moment, I knew that Katie would be okay and that she would stay with us for a long time to come.

I thank you Lord Jesus for your faithfulness to us. For holding on to Katie and protecting her from this disease that could have taken her life way too soon.

you know, it's so rad how God brings such GOOD from such heartache and heartbreak. the hard times are always hardest right then in the storm. but then i'll look back and go, "wow, God, you really showed up when i was so weak." i love it. i love His faithfulness.

thanks for sharing your story about katie! i think the two of you will never be the same... there's such an even more intimate bond now, huh, after having gone thru this.

so glad you have her. and so glad you have a baby Kate because of Katie!

Holy cow, I feel so awful! I havent checked your blog for SO long! I had no idea you had written this.

Im not sure why, but I ALWAYS find myself thinking about how you were at the hospital through everything. You were a constant. Always at my side. I mean, just today on our car ride home from Rapid I was thinking about you at the hospital and how strong you always were. And how different the entire event would have been if you hadnt mis-carried, and had just had a baby. You wouldnt have been able to be by my side the entire time, and I REALLY needed you. God is amazing. It was in his plan the entire time. You lost your baby only 1-2 weeks before I concieved mine...I find it breathtaking.

We re-hash this all the time I know, but there is something to be said about God's will and undoubting ability to provide and answer prayers. I constently thank Him for your life and the life that shines through me, because of you. I couldnt have made it through that horrific time with out you.

Im not sure If I have ever actually thanked you, but it meant the world to me. Thank you for being such an amazing big sister and most of all best friend. And thanks to God as well for answering both of our prayers.
